Travel Short Story - Birthday Blushes At The Beach (FYI - it was not her birthday)

If you know Rachel, you know she loves to have fun in small groups and hates being the center of attention in public. On a beach trip during our freshman year of college, a group of us decided to have a little fun at dinner.

We were at the Oyster House Alabama and picked our good friend Rachel to be the “birthday girl”—without telling her, of course.

The guys asked the staff to sing, and soon the entire restaurant joined in a rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday." She got a free dessert, but the attention didn’t stop there. All night, strangers came by to wish her a happy birthday. She blushed every time and broke out in hives from all the attention. She took it like a champ!

A little prank turned into a night none of us will forget—and probably the most memorable fake birthday she’ll ever have.
