Rick returned to Spain on a solo trip to reconnect—with himself and with a country that was once home for several years. In the picturesque hilltop city of Cuenca, he wandered the steep cobblestone streets, revisiting familiar corners, soaking in the views, and remembering the times he visited there.
After a full day of reflection and rediscovery, Rick returned to his rental car—only to realize his keys were gone. Panic set in. He retraced his steps, revisited shops, asked around... nothing. As the sun began to set and options ran thin, he made one final loop through Calle Alfonso VIII and Calle San Pedro.
Approaching the Cathedral, tired and discouraged, he locked eyes with a priest who smiled gently—then turned and retrieved a set of rental car keys hanging behind him. No words were needed. Sometimes, the places we return to have a way of taking care of us, just when we need it most.
